Never in my life have I felt this alone

Than now on the Wimbledon lawn

As I walk with tremors on the greenery

The crowd can only see the scenery

This is where many legends were born

And many a king and queen sworn

The gazes fall on you from the royal box

As you guess the rival’s next move like a cunning fox

Sometimes the centre court makes you feel at home

But homeless at times when you’re out of form

We are all co-opted to match the tradition

Though we often wonder about this contradiction

May be you will try serve & volley

And soon realise it was your folly

They cannot break your resolve, but only your serve

When you are crowned here, you know you deserve

Even with all these balls, it never really is a ball

And only those succeed who are not afraid of the fall

Over the years many have made it their fort

But no one has ever owned the centre court

After all the pain and misery, you are still not done

You will be back again, stronger, for another Wimbledon
